Ah my first indoor Skatepark! Also my first time ever skating on wooden ramps. My first impression is just how much faster they are than concrete, and they’re a LOT more slippery! There’s too much variation at Area 25 to even attempt to list here, so have a butchers at the photos.
The atmosphere was friendly enough, and much like everywhere else I’ve skated the Scooter Kids were friendly and somewhat curious as to why an old fella like me was bipping about the place on a skateboard. One kid even retrieved my skateboard for me the 132nd time it shot off the side of a ramp without me on it.
I visited with a friend, Gary from It’s Cool to be Crap. We both agreed we felt a bit like 10 year olds on our first visit to Rollerbury. Roller was (is?) a huge roller rink in Bury St. Edmunds. The first time ever went there I was bursting with nervous excitement – I wanted to have fun but didn’t want the big kids to laugh at me. Of course at Area 25 there were no kids there older than me and Gary, possibly including the people who run Area 25.
Area 25 is located on Martlesham Industrial Estate, so it’s easy to get to from the A12 and there’s plenty of parking. I thought the £6 entry fee for two hours skating was pretty reasonable too.
In addition to the main hall seen on the photos there’s a smaller room with a quarter pipe at one end and a vert ramp without a platform at the other.

As with all videos, this ain’t for showing off, it’s my own personal way of trying to track the meagre progress I’m making on a skateboard. On this trip to Area 25 I managed to drop in properly for the first time ever, which is a big deal. To me.
I love reading through your blog. It’s very interesting blog. Thanks for sharing valuable information to us.
