Singing and art are two things that are well known to lift the spirits and this week, amongst the bustle of late night shopping in Ipswich, Frame Workshop & Gallery on St Nicholas Street, hosted an event giving people the chance to enjoy both.
With the new winter exhibition on display, Robin Peters, owner of Frame Workshop and Gallery, welcomed people in to an open-door evening of viewing the new works. In a wonderful spirit of Christmas, guests and browsers were encouraged to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and a mince pie while perusing the artwork.
The cosy evening was given an extra feeling of warmth by The Kettle Girls who sang Christmas songs throughout the event. Not only were there beautiful and traditional carols, but some rather more light-hearted Christmas songs lent a wonderfully convivial air. In fact, it was such a relaxed and friendly evening that on occasion, some of the people who had come in to enjoy the art, would join in with the singing – including SanSan, Robin’s happy and friendly dog, who was also enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Christmas is assuredly a time for friendship and family and more importantly sharing time and experiences. On this cold night, with a town full of people frantically shopping, it was a warm and welcome escape to gently spend some time looking at wonderful art, listening to voices coming together in song, to have a mince pie and a glass of wine, and to wish each other a happy Christmas, without all the fuss and fluster.
