This is the third edition of the second book in a pioneer series, and has been revised to bring it up to date. Each book is complete in itself. So far published are Volume 1: The West Country (third edition); Volume 2:

RAILWAYS OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND, by H. P. White, is concerned with the fascinating and crowded story of railways in which ‘the preponderance of passenger traffic distinguishes the region from all others. It would seem that a higher proportion of the population served by the Southern is on the move, and on the move by train, than in other parts of the kingdom.’ The book is even more relevant today than when first published in 1961, and should be read by every commuter and everyone engaged in the future planning of the South East, as well as by railway enthusiasts.
