Nostalgic Days Further Reminiscences Of A Great Western Fireman

Last Updated on April 23, 2026

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

It is not possible to write a book about Great Western steam locomotives without a great deal of help from a number of very kind people. In this regard I have been very fortunate, for without that help, this book would not have been possible.

Special thanks are due to the following:-Mrs. Clare Sellen, for her beautiful poetry;

Ken Robinson, my photographic adviser;

Vic Smith, ex-Old Oak Common fireman;

Bert Edmonds, retired Old Oak Common driver, and Vic’s footplate mate,

Bill Bishop, retired Eastleigh break-down steam crane driver;

Roy Oxendale of the Quainton Road Society;

Colin Judge who has always had faith in my writings, and all the very kind readers who wrote and asked “when is the next book due?”,

, for without them, it would not be worthwhile.
