London Midland Steam In The East Midlands – D Bradford Barton Ltd.

This volume in the London Midland

Steam series covers an area centred upon Trent Junction where a number of routes constructed by the former

Midland Railway converged from the four cardinal points of the compass.

These lines and the traffic they carried remained basically unchanged through LMS days and into

Nationalisation after 1948. Although these pages illustrate the post-war years, the scene then still had a definite Midland influence, both in the trains and their background

Very many hours were enjoyed by the lineside, watching and photographing the passing patade through the years; never a thought was there–until latterly that this could change and that the fascination of the power of steam would give way to the much less interesting smooth efficiency of diesels.
