Collecting Railway Antiques by Cyril Bracegirdle (Paperback, 1988).
Railway antiques probably offer a wider variety of themes and specialities to suit a broader range of pockets than almost any other field of collecting, and are rapidly emerging as a more widely recognized and appreciated area for the collector.
Now, to guide you through the often bewildering choice of railwayana, Cyril Bracegirdle describes in words and pictures some of the most popular categories, from ephemera costing just a few pence to locomotive nameplates costing several thousand pounds. He also gives hints on buying at auction, and where to visit railwayana museums and collections.
Signs and silverware, tickets and timetables, posters, pottery, clocks and jigsaws – these are just a sample of the items available to tempt the would-be collector into the fascinating world of railway antiques.
