A Footplateman Remembers the Southern by Jim Rowe, paperback.
After over 45 years of footplate work, Jim Rowe recalls a host of incidents – some amusing. some serious – from his days as a fireman and driver. Based on his experiences of working from the old Reading Southern depot, his reminiscences reflect one man’s experiences and opinions of the Southern Railway and its successor, the Southern Region, from 1937 to 1982.
