AIRWOLF
Now when I was a kid you were either a Airwolf kid or a Blue Thunder kid. I must
admit to prefering the rough iron girdir climbing frame chic of blue thunder
but I just couldn't find the theme tune.
Buy
Airwolf on DVD!
BANANAMAN
I had the manual, ate the bananas, but thankfull never sprouted blue lycra leggings
that left nowt to the imagination
BERTHA
I seem to remember Bertha was one of the many kids shows narrated by Terry Wogan.
But that aside this was a fantastic show about a huge machine that made anything
you could imagine, although it must have made something bad as they only ever
made about five episodes if I remember correctly, which lets face it, I probably
don't.
BOD
Bod had the dubious honnour of being the first ever library book I hired. Other
than that all I remember is crap animation and calling some kid at school Bod
till he cried.
Buy
Bod on DVD!
BATTLE OF THE PLANETS
One of those brilliant 'one frame per second' japanese style cartoons that made
no sense what so ever, but had cool theme music.
Buy
Battle of the Planets on DVD!
BRAVESTARR
(also spelt bravestar)
So they were on an odd far away planet, called Texas,,,,, MInd you, the main
character of this (BraveStarr) did have us kids running around the playground
shouting, "I call forth the strength of ten tigers,"
before thumping the back of some other kid's head with our star wars
lunch boxes.
Buy
Bravestarr on Video!
BUTTON
MOON
Just crap, and I used to make my sister cry by changing the words to,
"we've eaten Mr Spoon". Hmm, I'm not coming out of this page
looking too good am I!
Buy
Button Moon on DVD!
CAREBEARS
(also known as care bears)
Shit, just shit, but still we went in our dull minded drooves to be bored shitless
by stuffed bears. The closest this ever got to exciting was those fights at department
stores at Christmas time over the crap toys.
CITIES
OF GOLD
One of the best, they made hundreds of episodes but did they ever find the lost
cities, did they bollocks. If one of this lot ever offers you a lift to the pub
make sure they take a map.
DANGERMOUSE
(also known as danger mouse)
He's the coolest! Apparent the Stone Roses gutiarist
John Squier worked for this company. By which I mean he was an animator, not
a wee small secret agent.
Buy
Dangermouse on DVD!
DEFENDERS OF THE EARTH
I don't remember a thing about this show, loved the music though!
Buy
Defenders of the Earth on DVD!
DOGTANIAN
AND THE THREE MUSKERHOUNDS
Another one of those crappy cartoons that we loved, they repaid our love by making
523,004 episodes. In fact they are probably still making them. Remember over
the end credits there were bits of crud floating round the screen? I never could
figure out if they were supposed to be there or not! Also, wasn't one of the
Muskerhounds an alcoholic?
Buy
Dogtanian and the Three Muskerhounds on DVD!
DUCKULA
(also known as Count Duckula)
This was a fairly inoffensive ITV show that I didn't see much of, we were a BBC
family you see. There was a girl at school everyone called Nanny though.
Buy
Count Duckula on DVD!
DUNGEONS
AND DRAGONS
Fairly crap, and an even worse MP3
EWOKS
Shit, what more can be said! This was an early experiment in the George Lucas
'dead horse' theory.
FAMILY
NESS
One of the best english cartoons ever, it did everything you wanted as a kid.
It was colourfull and meaningless with story lines that left so litle impact
on yoru memory every episode seemed brand new!
FAMILY
NESS END THEME TUNE
This is probably the song you remember.
FLUMPS
Hurrah! Wee testicle looking things that lived on an alotment and played instruments
like the 'flumpet'.
FRAGGLE ROCK
Now what kid a the time didn't wish really hard for their very own little team
of doozers!
INSPECTOR
GADGET
Kind crap show about a man with lots of bodily attachments, I'm still thankfull
we never saw him take a piss, although the bodily function theme was continued
when a live action film was made that was shit.
GUMMIE
BEARS
For some reason I really liked this kitch cartoon, probably becuase they always
seemed to be on drugs. They even carried around a magical elixier that would
make them 'bounce', very suspect.
HE-MAN
(also known as HEMAN) the extended version!
Probably every kid's favourite. The toys were really smart and by using the voice
changer snake/ microphone in Skeletors castle I could make my sister cry.
HENRY'S
CAT (also known as henry's cat)
I don't remember much about this apart from he was yellow and didn't appear to
have a litter tray or the ability to lick his own arse as cats can. Something
of a charlatan then. It looked like it was made by the same people that made
Rubarb and Custard.
WILLY
FOG 80 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD
One of the greatest, you just knew this wasn't actually an english
program due to the crap lip sync, but still we drove our parents nuts
by singing the theme tunes! Did he ever actually make it round the world?
WILLY FOG 80 DAY'S AROUND THE WORLD (Spanish Version)
Just to proove the above point, it was Spanish!
PEARL
AND DEAN
Not strictly a kids tv theme tune at all, but they did used to play this music
at the pictures before Saturday Morning Matinees!
