The leaning bannister of Rectory Road. Actually I've just found out
this is in fact a 'newel'.

Each spindle has these marvellous bit of brittle metal that were a joy
to remove. Sarchasim doens't come accross well on a webpage so I'll
be honest and tell you they were a pain in the poo.
Hello look, I found a way of making our bath look worse!

And here's how our landing looks with no rails. Yes, I did nearly fall
down the stairs a few times while things were in this state!

Finally the plasterboard is actually in the room we need it in!
Originally we were only going to fill the gap that we had already removed
with new plasterboard, but in a monent of dust induced insanity we decided
to replace the entire wall.
When the picture rails was removed (nearly intact) we found three or
four layers of old wallpaper.
Hurrah, the railing is back in place! I don't need to worry about coming
a cropper when I'm en-route to tinkle the ivories in the dead of night!
I will also add that the rail and newel is now studier than when I took
it down. Also, the wall at the far end of the is now holier.
nearly there,,,

I took this photo ro remind us of why we are making all this mess!
