The Gibson Ripper Bass Guitar holds it's own unique style and is distinctive for both it's looks and it's thunderous sound! These are pretty hard to come by these days (especially in the UK) as not very many were sold at the original time of manufacture thanks to their very high price compared to the rest of the basses on the market.
The condition of this bass guitar is quite frankly awesome, I've seen a few of these now and have never seen a blonde one that compares to this one. There a few knocks and bangs but they are all very superficial and shallow.
I personally imported this lovely bass from a chap in America who was the original owner and I have never gigged it myself. It's absolutley gorgeous but alas I can't justify keeping something like this just to drool over, so it's time for it to find a good home.
Guitar Setup
I have recently (a few days ago) had this bass inspected and professionally setup by none other than Ian Crow at Amblin Man Studios, and he REALLY knows his stuff! The action on this Ripper is really nice, it suits pretty much all playing styles. Ian also gave this bass a service - Functional checks, tightened loose input skt, quick clean, cleaned and oiled machine head components to ease tuning action, adjusted action and intonation! The intonation has been declared as being perfect, however I've found with selling guitars on Ebay that intonation can be a matter of taste so I'm not giving this intonation as a 100% guarantee. Oh, and it's got a brand new set of strings on it! Please get in touch if you would like to see the invoice.

This auction includes the 'well loved' gibson case shown here, and by well loved I do of course mean totally shagged! No idea how it happened really, the bass is immaculate!
And here's the case, it's not so bad I guess, just old!
No scratching on the top of the headstock and a dead straight neck

The distinctive Gibson headstock

You can see from this angle just how unmarked the body is

There's no scarring around the strap button, I'm guessing largely because this bass appears to have spent it's life in a caring home!

The rather meaty bridge, that not many examples of the Ripper still have in place

The Ripper body is surprisingly slim, you can also see here that bar one very small nick the strap button is totally clean

The machine heads have all been cleaned and lubed

The serial number 966668, in between the two machine heads it says MADE IN USA

This Gibson ripper has pretty much no buckle rash, which is rare in such an old bass

Another example of how find the back is, you can see me there, hello!

This brass nut was fitted around 25 years ago according to the previous owner, and gives a lovely ringing clean sound which perfectly compliments the grunt this bass gives out

Ian Crow was good enough to send us this copy of the original Gibson specification sheet!
